During summer Iceland Express offers regular flights directly to Akureyri from places in Europe. You will also find it just as easy to fly to Iceland’s international airport in Keflavík then transfer to Reykjavík for a short domestic flight to North Iceland. Flugfélag Íslands offers up to nine scheduled flights every day between Akureyri and Reykjavík. The flight takes around 45 minutes.
If you choose to drive to Akureyri from south-west Iceland, you should expect the trip to take 4–5 hours. The daily scheduled coach service takes around six hours.
