The Golf Club Akureyri was extablished in 1935. The golf Course "Jaðarsvöllur" is 18 holes, par 36/35 and has excellent facilities. The club has facilities including changing rooms, a restaurant, bar and pro-shop. You can hire clubs if you need to.

Bird watching
Many good places for bird watching are within Akureyri and its surroundings. Four bird watching houses are available with a picture overview of all the most common birds found in the area. Three houses are within the town itself (Naustaborgir, Krossanesborgir and the estuary of river Eyjafjarðará) and one in the island Hrísey which also belongs to Akureyri.
