The Akureyri Swimming Pool is one of the most popular attractions in Akureyri.  It is open all year round. The pool area includes two 25moutdoor pools,pummeling water jets,water slides, splashpool, an indoor pool, four hot pots, steam bath, sauna and an extensive area for sunbathing. All the pools are heated by natural geothermal water .Temps range from a pleasant 27°C to the hottest hot pot, 42°C.   The whole facility is maintained to a high standard. Adjacent to the swimming pool is a very popular family play area. Crazy golf, peddle cars, giant chess set and a playground can be enjoyed by all. This section is open during the summer months.

To get there: 10 minutes walk from the center. By bus: Bus number 1,2 or 4, go out by Hótel Edda(Menntaskólinn á Akureyri).

Summer: (8.6 - 20.8): Weekdays: 06.45 - 15.00, Saturdays and  Sundays closed.

The swimming pool "Glerárlaug" is a great indoors pool that is used for teaching children and youth to swim in addition to other qualities that indoors pools have. In the outdoor area of the pool there are two geothermal hot tubs, a children's wading-pool and outdoor dressing rooms.

To get there take bus number1, 2 or 4 and go out by Glerárskóli(The Elementary School of Glérárskóli).

Winter (23.8 - 3.6):  Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 15.00-19.00; Fridays 15.00-18.00; Saturdays and Sundays 13.00-16.00. Mondays closed; 
Summer (4.6-22.8):  Monday to Friday: 10.30 - 19.00, Saturday & Sunday: 10.30-17.00

Public Holidays: Closed on 1st of May, 17th of June and August Bank Holiday.
