Akureyri Drama Society (Leikfélag Akureyrar) is one of the three leading institutions on the Icelandic theatre scene and the only professional theatre company outside of Iceland's capital city.

Enjoy the privilege of exclusively visit to Akureyri Local Artists, where they welcome us at their workshops, interact with us and explain their work. We walk through Akureyri centre, visit workshops, handcraft store, North Icelandic design of various type and material.

The centre of cultural life in Akureyri is on Kaupvangsstræti, which curves through Grófargil in the middle of Akureyri. This street's nickname is Arts' Alley.

GalleriBOX is run by The Visual Artists Society (Myndlistarfélagið) in Akureyri.

Hof is a cultural building designed for music and other performing arts, as well as top-notch facilities for conferences and meetings, receptions, parties and exhibitions. Hof has first-class facilities for events of various kinds and the best available technical equipment. The building was opened in August 2010.

KUNSTRAUM WOHNRAUM is a specialized exhibitionroom in the home of the artist Hlynur Hallsson and his wife Kristín Kjartansdóttir.

Mjólkurbúðin Gallery is located in the Cultural Center of Akureyri.

Friðbjarnarhús is believed to have been built in 1856. The house is named after Friðbjörn Steinsson, bookbinder, bookseller and member of the Municipal Council for a great many years. The Independent Order of Good Templars in Iceland was established at Friðbjörn´s home and in 1961 the I.O.G.T. bought the house for the purpose of establishing a memorial museum.

Populus tremula is a cultural workshop, housing an independent society of artists.

In 1991 the foundation meeting of the Gil Society was held, marking the real beginning of the construction of an Art Centre in Grófargil which is now the focal point of culture in Akureyri. This is where we find the Akureyri Art Museum, the Akureyri School of Art, new exhibition halls of varying dimensions, for example in the Ketilhúsið (the Boiler House) which can also be used for conferences.

The Orchestra holds, on average, 5-7 concerts each season. It's first concert was held on 24 October 1993 and has therefore now commenced its 15thseason.

VeggVerk (WallWork) is the name of an exhibition space located at the western side of Strandgata 17 in Akureyri.
