Domestic travel
In order to travel between Reykjavík and Akureyri, you can easily travel either by bus and/or plane. Below you find information on these options:
Airline:
Travel by air (Air Iceland): The domestic airport is located near the city center of Reykjavik. Reservations can only be made on-line at: www.airiceland.is . The flight takes about 45 minutes. Up to 10 flights are offered each day. When arrived to Akureyri airport, it only takes about 5 minutes drive to get to the city center.

The company “Bílar og fólk” handles the bus schedule for the West and North of Iceland, driving under the name TREX (Travel Experiences). Among the routes our network covers is Reykjavik - Akureyri and Akureyri - Myvatn. Enjoy Iceland to its fullest and travel by bus.
The busschedules leave from the bus terminal “BSÍ” in Reykjavík centre and arrives to bus terminal in Akureyri city centre. Schedules can be viewed at: http://www.bogf.is/enska/index.html . There are either one or two departures a day, the route takes about 6 hours including rest stops.

The SBA-Norðurleið company is one of the largest bus companies in Iceland with about 60 busses.
