15.00 The Old Vegetation Center in Krókeyri – The Harvest Festival of Agriculture and Art
The project Harvest festival of agriculture and art is organized by Guðrún Pálína Guðmundsdóttir artist and Jóhann Thorarensen gardening specialist. It began in the year 2010 and is now held for the second time. 11 artists, art students and others will be in the area around the old Vegetation center in Krókeyri (where the vegetable gardens are, above the Industrial and Motorcycle museum) and down by the creek north of the gardens. A part of the art works are situated indoors, in the Vegetation center, which is open 9-15 pm. The last day of the festival, the 26th of August, there is an event at 15:00 where visitors get the opportunity to taste the crops from the gardens and to listen to four lectures, on one hand they are about art and on the other hand about growing vegetables.

”Arsborealis - Art, Culture and History of the Northern Hemisphere.” The exhibition is an introduction to history, culture and art of the people that live in the northern hemisphere, their isolated life and constant battle with the forces of nature. Participants will come from Greenland, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Nunavutand and Norway. Art director: Aðalsteinn Ingólfsson. Exhibition designer: Björn Georg Björnsson.

20.00 Hof Cultural and Conference Center – Classical Concert
Akureyri 150th Anniversary Choir performs 6 classical works by local composers specially written for the occasion. No Entrance fee. Get tickets at Hof Cultural and Conference Center ticket office.
