Adventure Trail in the Botanical Garden

Adventure Trail in the Botanical Garden

Story telling walk about the hidden people and the elves in Iceland

Children 13 and younger can enjoy free admission, accompanied by adults

Bryndís Fjóla welcomes you at Jónshús, which is the house next to the Botanical Garden's greenhouse.
She will tell you stories of experiences with hidden people and elves in her life and the differences between them and she will answer questions, which you may have about them.
In the continuation we will walk along the Hidden Trail , in the Botanical Garden, and stop at places where the hidden ladies Lovísa and Pia dwell, there we will talk about their influence and role.
We also visit the last farmer who still lives in the hidden world of the Botanical Garden, his name is Heimir.
We will remind ourselves of that hidden people and elves are part of our cultural heritage in Iceland and in many other countries.
At the end of the expedition, we walk through the so-called Kærleiksstígur/Love Trail , which is a tree tunnel where numerous elves and fairies stay throughout the year and are always ready to welcome visitors. There we find a tree that we like and if we like, we can give it a hug and feel the tree's presence, texture, smell and even feel or see the fairies that live near them. You will be able to take the time to collect tree branches found on the footpath and create whatever comes to your mind and leave it to the tree and the fairies.
