Paper bags and personal hygiene

Paper bags and personal hygiene

Visual art installation by Steini Thorsson
The artist Aðalsteinn Þórsson exhibits Paper bags and personal hygiene.
Opening: March 28th, Thursday at 18:00
The exhibition will be open March 29th - April 1st (Easter weekend) and April 5th - 7th, 14 - 17 every day.

This installation will display objects from the Private Collection, a long-term project of Samasteinn. In addition, he will do painting and drawing in the inner room of the Mjólkurbúðin (Dairy Shop) during the exhibition. Thus, the exhibition has two sides the outer and the internal, the eternal tension in human life. This can be seen as an attempt to create a successful relationship between the two - which Sam considers attractive.
"In my project The Private Collection, I assume that the rest of my consumption is cultural treasure, in much the same way that traditional creations are viewed, the leftovers of the mind as cultural treasures. I strive to keep to account all that remains of my daily consumption." This is what Sam says is the main ingredient of the private collection. A project he's been working on since the turn of the last century. In this project, he wants to make visible the size of the individual in the environment, promote environmental awareness and work towards sustainability. At the same time, creating new beauty experiences that combine nature and cultural experiences.
