Seljahjallagil in Mývatnsveit

Departure at 8 by private cars (jeeps) from FFA office, Strandgata 23.
Jeeps (unmodified) are required from Hverfjall.

Directions: Drive to Hverfjall in Mývatnsveit and set off from there at 09:30. Lüdentsborgir explored and drive up to the hill north of Seljahjallagil. Cars were left behind and we walked down into the gorge and looked at the magnificent rock formations. Walk down the gorge and from the gorge through the lava sand and through the Mela and sand dunes with marsh grass south of Villingafjall. Walk northwest of the mountain through rough lava and along jeep tracks down to the water at Garðsgrundur.

Distance in total 12 km. The steepest descent is a descent of about 300 m.
