Torfufell in Eyjafjörður

Torfufell is 1244 m high. Drive to Hólsgerði, but leave the car at Torfufell, where the walk ends. The hike to the mountain begins at the first town, Hólsgerði. You walk up the slopes and aim for a flat area in the ridge south of Ytri-Skarðshnjúk. From there the ridge is followed to the edge of the mountain. In the upper part of the route, there are some rough patches, but no rocks. When you get up, you walk along the flat mountain to a handsome surveyor on the high ridge. Torfufell overlooks the neighboring mountains and has a panoramic view over the mountains and with good visibility you can see e.g. to Snæfell, Dyngjufjalla, Kverkfjalla and Bárðarbunga. Return via Lambárdrag down to Villingadal and follow the Torfufell river to the town of Torfufell. Some cars must be left at the town of Torfufell.
