Holtasóley

The Mountain Avens (Dryas octopetala) or, 'Holtasóley' (in icelandic) is now blooming in most areas in Iceland. It was voted the National Flower of Iceland in 2004.

This pretty wildflower is the favorite food of the bird rock ptarmigan, or 'Rjúpa' leading it to be nicknamed 'Rjúpnalauf' which directly translates to 'rock ptarmigan's leaf'.
