At this time of the year farmers embark on the annual tradition of scaling mountains to collect their sheep before winter sets in. The sheep roundup, called réttir, is one of the most important events in Iceland's countryside.

The flock is brought into the main pen and then farmers start to divide the flock - by checking the markings in the ear of each sheep and bringin their sheep to each farms enclosure.
