There’s hardly anything better than pancakes – except perhaps more pancakes! The women's society Iðunn will be flipping up stacks of Icelandic style pancakes, with or without whipped cream. That is the question! So... pancakes. First come, first served.
For those rare individuals who may have developed an allergy to pancakes (if that's even possible), waffles will also be available – quite decent in their own right. But let’s get back to pancakes...
Then there’s the Sundry Collection itself – a world of its own. Neither a history museum nor an art museum, with all due respect to both. The Sundry Collection is more like a pancake... No wait, what we meant is that it’s somewhere in between. The museum that is, not pancakes.
And if you, dear reader, haven’t already realized it, Pancake Day is happening at the Sundry Collection in Eyjafjarðarsveit on Saturday, July 12 from 1–5 PM.
Oh, and the turfchurch at Saurbær is lovely too – though no pancakes will be served there. The giant cow sculpture Edda is equally impressive, and a bit closer to the pancakes.
Just so we’re clear: Pancake Day at the Small Object Museum is this Saturday, July 12 from 1–5 PM. Handkerchiefs will be sold separately for those who miss out on the pancakes.
And the ticket to the museum? If you haven't bought one already. Ridiculously cheap at 2,600 ISK for grownups, very much grownups pay 2.000 ISK. Not so grown up pay nothing. The ticket grants access to six other museums and you can visit as often as you like through the rest of the year. We can’t promise there’ll always be pancakes, but coffee is always included.
You are warmly welcome – the Museum Director
P.S. All feedback on the content will be discussed over a delicious pancake on Saturday.
