The film Portrait of a Lady on Fire
The young artist Marianne is hired to paint a portrait of Héloïse, a prospective bride of a wealthy family, who has repeatedly refused to sit for her because she refuses to marry the man who is about to tie her down. Marianne disguises herself as a maid to gain her trust, but it is not long before she falls in love with the model.
The film competed for the Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Queer Palm Award, the first film directed by a woman to win that award. Celine Sciamma also won the award for best screenplay at the festival.
The film will be shown in French with Icelandic subtitles.
Not suitable for children under 12.
