Work has begun on revising the land-use plan for the campsite plot on Þórunnarstræti with the aim of building a mixed residential area with new health care and other services.

 

During the meeting, planning designers will present the proposed planning work, following which participation in discussion groups will be offered.

The planning description states, "The challenges of the planning work include defining the development of mixed settlements in the area, public spaces and residential areas. Objectives will be defined as regards the quality of settlements, the arrangement of the street system and parking spaces, the alignment of walking and cycling paths, connections to neighbouring services, recreational and residential areas, as well as other provisions and conditions deemed appropriate. [...] The development of the plan lays the foundations for efficient use of land, mixing settlements, ecological residential areas and public spaces, good relations with the surrounding environment and thus an environment that supports an active lifestyle. The plan is intended to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly planning with a coherent approach to harmony with the environment and society."
