Kaldbakur mountain – Svínárhnjúkur mountain.

We drive to a car park just north of Grenivík village, but a few jeeps will need to be ferried some 6 km further north to the deserted farm Svínárnes. We walk along a marked route to the summit of Kaldbakur (1,173 m). Then we scramble along the mountain tops north to Útburðarskálarhnjúkur summit (1,172 m) and then along ridges to Eiríkskollur (1,040 m) and Svínárhnjúkur summit (1,058 m). If time permits we continue a bit further north to the Þerna summit (1,060 m) before descending down to the cars at Svínárnes. Total distance: 14 km, vertical ascent: 1400 m.
