KRASSOFF perform at North Iceland Pride Festival
Free concert at Hlaðan, litli-garður in Akureyri
Krassoff recently won the "rising star" award at the Reykjavík Fringe Festival.
The material to be performed is the upcoming concept album, Hún, which tells the story of Hén and Hén's self-discovery/healing process through music, poetry and dance (O.Fl.) with a strong feminist emphasis and also from a queer perspective. In other words, a personal narrative but with an emphasis on social forces and causes and how the inner and the outer are thus intertwined.
Dancers are: Ása María Sigrúnardóttir and Diljá Þorbjargardóttir.
About Krassoff:
Krassoff is the alter ego of interdisciplinary artist Kristína Rannveig Jóhannsdóttir, who performs her own music and choreography along with dancers that join her in an experimental contemporary dance performance. It functions both as a concert and dance piece, anything in between or more. She builds her own little world on stage exploring topics around personal growth with a queer feminist perspective. Krassoff is dynamic, fragile as she is sharp, strong while soft, and dark and intense while also a little humorous.
The music can be described as dark and experimental electropop in which layered vocals, dreamy melodies, poetry and beats are often prominent. Lyrics and concepts play a big role in her songwriting and each song has its emotion as a drive. The music is therefore not limited to any genre, (or art form for that matter), but the stories of each song reveal a bigger picture when played and performed together. There is a feminist theme throughout the set, and while the story so abstractly told is that of a character, it could still be the story of so many women.
Comments about Krassoff describe e.g. a visualization and feeling of dance in the music, and that the music takes the audience on a journey both visually and emotionally.
The event is sponsored by SSNE association of municipalities of Northeast Iceland.
