Magnús Jóhann & Óskar Guðjónsson in Hofi - "Fermented Friendship" Release Concert
Pianist Magnús Jóhann and saxophonist Óskar Guðjónsson are joining forces at Hof in Akureyri on September 19th to present brand new material from their workshop. They recently recorded an album featuring their compositions, which will be released worldwide the day after their concert. They are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to perform their music in the North. Over the past few weeks, they've been teasing the audience with singles and videos, hoping to whet appetites for the main event.
Óskar Guðjónsson has been a sought-after saxophonist in the Icelandic music scene since his youth, with a particular passion for improvisational music and jazz. His band ADHD has garnered well-deserved attention both in Iceland and internationally. Óskar has collaborated with numerous artists, including Mezzoforte, Tómas R. Einarsson, Jim Black, Aaron Parks, and Ásgeir Trausti, among others. His successful partnership with bassist and composer Skúli Sverrisson has further expanded his jazz horizons, resulting in two albums and countless concerts.
Since 2015, Magnús Jóhann Ragnarsson has been highly active as a performer, composer, and recording director. He has contributed to hundreds of recordings and performs in numerous concerts each year. His collaborators include Moses Hightower, Bríet, Ingibjörg Turchi, Aron Can, and Bubbi Morthens. Magnús has also released four solo albums and one short album. Additionally, he released the duo albums Án tillits (2021) with Skúli Sverrisson and Tíu íslensk lög (2022) with GDRN. Magnús was named Music Performer of the Year in the Open Category at the Icelandic Music Awards 2023.
