Akureyrarvaka

The wait is almost over! Akureyrarvaka, Akureyri’s annual town festival, starts next Friday, August 28, bringing the city to life with a weekend full of music, art, culture, and activities for all ages.

Akureyrarvaka is held around August 29, the anniversary of the day Akureyri was granted kaupstaður (town) status in 1862. This year, the city celebrates its 164th anniversary.

From live concerts and performances to exhibitions, family activities, open houses, and events throughout the city, there will be plenty to see and experience.

Whether you live in Akureyri or are visiting for the weekend, come and celebrate the city, its history, and its vibrant community.
