The airline easyJet has decided to move its flights between Manchester and Akureyri to Mondays and Fridays instead of the previous Tuesdays and Saturdays. In addition, the flight schedule to Manchester next winter will start three weeks earlier than originally planned, on October 26.

Hjalti Páll Þórarinsson, project manager at the Air Cluster Air 66N, says these changes are very welcome:
"These changes are the result of the excellent cooperation we have had with easyJet in recent months. We have had good discussions with easyJet since last autumn about this shift of the Manchester flight days. We are also continuously pushing for longer flight periods, and that is starting to pay off."

The change to Mondays and Fridays is likely to encourage more people from the Manchester airport catchment area to fly to Akureyri, which strengthens tourism in Northern Iceland. This change is also convenient for locals in Northern Iceland, who now have more travel days to choose from when planning trips abroad, and it will be easier for football fans to catch a match in Manchester or Liverpool.

The flights are already on sale, and bookings can be made on easyJet’s website: www.easyJet.com
