The southern part of Akureyri’s town center is seeing notable growth in the local hospitality scene.

Hótel Akureyri has recently completed a significant expansion, now offering 107 rooms across multiple buildings. This development enhances the hotel’s capacity to welcome both domestic and international guests in the heart of town.

Directly across the street, construction is underway on the Akureyri Skáld Hotel – Curio Collection by Hilton. The new hotel is set to open in May 2026 and will add further variety to accommodation options in Akureyri, appealing to visitors looking for high-quality, globally branded lodging.
