Yesterday, on June 17, we celebrated Iceland’s National Day!
On this day in 1944, Iceland officially became a fully independent republic, ending centuries of foreign rule. It’s a day to honor our freedom, self-determination, and national pride — and to remember Jón Sigurðsson, the leader of Iceland’s independence movement, who was born on this very day.
Here are a few photos from the celebration program held in the Botanical Gardens.
