Scheduled Closures on Route 1

Maintenance work has begun on the Route 1 bridge over Jökulsá á Fjöllum, located between Egilsstaðir and Mývatn, and temporary closures are now in effect. The work is expected to continue until the end of August, or for the duration of the project.

The bridge, situated between Route 862 and Route 864 — both of which lead north to Dettifoss — will only be open to traffic during specific time windows each day:

• 09:45–10:15

• 12:00–13:00

• 14:45–15:15

• 16:45–17:15

• 19:00–08:00 (overnight access)
