Spring has finally arrived, bringing temperatures of up to 15°C this week. The milder weather has transformed the town, with people heading outdoors to enjoy the sunshine, fresh air, and longer days.
On Wednesday, the last major skiing event of the season will take place: the Donald Duck Ski Competition. This beloved annual event attracts over 1,000 children, all eager to take part in the fun and excitement on the slopes in Mt. Hlíðarfjall, above the town.
This year is especially significant, as the competition celebrates its 50th anniversary—a remarkable milestone for one of the most cherished sporting events in Akureyri.
