Grímsey ferry Sæfari will be temporarily out of service starting October 6 due to maintenance, with operations resuming in November.
While the ferry is in dry dock, there will be no passenger sailings between Dalvík and Grímsey. During this time, passengers will need to travel by air. The flight schedule offers three flights per week – on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. For more information and booking, please visit Norlandair’s website.
The maintenance of Sæfari has been divided into two phases to minimize disruption. The first phase takes place this October. A second, shorter maintenance period is planned after the New Year. At that time, the ferry will not be dry-docked; instead, maintenance work will be carried out while moored at the quay, including the installation of a new onboard crane.
During the maintenance period, cargo transportation to and from Grímsey will continue as usual, operated by the fishing boat Þorleifur EA-088 on the same schedule as the ferry.
