World of Hope

For many years, Nói was one of the leading pioneers of the Icelandic furniture industry, working in furniture design, manufacturing, and sales throughout most of his career. Alongside this, he remained highly active as an artist. In fact, no other artist, living or deceased, has as many outdoor artworks displayed throughout Akureyri as Nói.

In this work, Nói creates a sculpture from leftover materials used in the production of trawl floats — spherical devices attached to trawler nets. Made of steel, the artwork symbolizes both the Earth and the value of education.
