Akureyri Backpackers is a hostel located in the heart of the Akureyri, on the main shopping street Hafnarstræti.
Providing 23 rooms for over a hundred travelers in rooms for two till eight persons. The dorms are 4, 6 and 8 bedded and the private rooms host 2-3 persons.
They provide 11 double rooms, 2 quadruple rooms, 2 sixpersons rooms and 8 dormrooms where one can choose to bring own sleepingbag or pay additionally for an made up bed. The dorm rooms consist of one eightpersons room, three quadruple rooms and four sixpersons rooms.
One can choose between bringing own sleeping bag or renting a duvet wrapped in a cozy cover. All the beds come with a clean sheet and a pillow. Toilets are located on every floor and warm showers are accessible 24 hours a day. On the ground floor there is a travel hub, tourist information center and bistro/bar where one can enjoy meals or have a drink.
Akureyri’s hottest restaurants, bars and coffee shops are located within 2 minutes walking distance and the geothermal swimming pool of Akureyri with its relaxing hot tubs is less than 500 m away. For the culture buffs, the theatre is located on the same street and one of Iceland’s most famous live music bars, “The green hat” is right next door.
