Aurora Watercolour Festival 2026 is an international festival, which will be held in Akureyri September 10th – 27th 2026.

World famous watercolour painters are invited to attend, as well as Icelandic painters who have excelled in their practice. Painters will expectantly come to Akureyri from all around, domestic as well as from abroad, to enjoy the events offered. Guðmundur Ármann Sigurjónsson will be the festival’s guardian and Nicolás Lopez from Peru will be the guest of honor.

Other confirmed artists include Björn Bernström (Sweden), Julia Ustinovich (Poland), Julia Barminova (Portugal), Kasia Wiercińska (Norway), and Prafull Sawant (India).

A jury selects submitted works for the exhibition at the Akureyri Art Museum September 10th – 27th 2026. At the festival itself, September 10th – 13th, workshops will be held, courses and practical demonstrations offered, and watercolour brands introduced.

The festival is a collaboration between Akureyri Art Museum and the Icelandic Watercolour Association.
