In Icelandic !

Dr. Sara Stefánsdóttir is an occupational therapist and Assistant Professor at the School of Health, Business and Natural Sciences at the University of Akureyri. Her research explores how parents with intellectual disabilities in Iceland are supported, in light of developments in the human rights of disabled people. Data were collected through interviews with parents, their families, disability rights advocates, and employees of child protection and social services. The findings highlight how human rights progress over recent decades has not been sufficient to remove societal and systemic barriers faced by parents with intellectual disabilities.

The Bakery Lectures are a collaboration between the Akureyri Academy and the Brauðgerðarhús Bakery. Their aim is to showcase projects connected to AkAk, offer events in Sunnuhlíð, and give local residents an opportunity to learn and discuss a wide range of topics.

Everyone warmly welcome!
