The Flowers of Eyjafjörður - Guðmundur Tawan Akureyri Summer Artist

Dried flowers from Eyjarfjörður hand-sewn onto a dress in a live performance

Guðmundur Tawan Víðisson, Akureyri Summer Artist 2025, will sew dried flowers onto a dress at the Hof Cultural Center on July 17th from 11:00-17:00.

The flowers were picked in Eyjafjörður in the summers of 2024 and 2025: bluegrass, marigolds, sun lilies, victory tassels and other species. The artist's other materials are dried roses and flowers from Býflugan og Blómið.

Guðmundur Tawan is holding a fashion show on August 16th called Dýrð í Fagraskógi under the clothing brand Þúsund Þakkir and will be shown in Hof. The project draws inspiration from The Heart of Akureyri, the poetic romance of Davíð Stefánsson from Fagriskógur and the nature stories of Jón Árnason.
