In celebration of Pink October, a pink evening opening will be held on October 9 at Glerártorg in collaboration with the Akureyri and Surrounding Area Cancer Society. The event will be open from 10:00 to 22:00.
The weekend promises lively and fun moments as friends, couples, and families come together to enjoy great times at Glerártorg.
The evening opening has been one of the most popular events at Glerártorg in recent years, with fantastic deals in the shops throughout the weekend.
This year there will be plenty to do: The Cancer Society will have a sales booth from 15:00–17:00 and 20:00–22:00, and the Brakka Association will present a powerful photo exhibition: Too Young for Cancer – Sóley’s Story, on display until the end of October. A pink box will also be placed by the exhibition for a fun game: If you shop for ISK 10,000 or more, you can have your purchase reimbursed as a gift card from Glerártorg. One lucky winner will be drawn from the box on October 13. To participate, write your name and phone number on your receipt and place it in the box.
There will be a variety of promotions, including from BIO Effect, Halldór Jónsson, Vera Design, and the Grief Centre, as well as presentations and advice at Lyf & Heilsu. Free beauty treatments and nail polish application will be offered with OPI nail polish purchases. Blush will have a sales booth and a prize wheel for shoppers after 18:00.
Companies such as Kjörís will give out Bestís ice cream after 16:00, Heildverslunin Steindal will offer Happy Monkey after 16:00, Töst and Rosé Lemonade after 19:30, and MS will provide tastings of Óðalsostur.
Fortune teller Sunna Spákona will give readings to visitors between 20:00 and 22:00, and Salsa North will offer salsa and bachata dance lessons at 20:00. Cozy tunes will fill the mall throughout the evening, with Kristján Edelstein and Stefán Ingólfs creating a warm atmosphere on the pedestrian street, while DJ Helga Margrét plays great tracks in Lindex.
The program begins at midday and continues into the evening – a cozy atmosphere full of support and togetherness.
Friday, October 10 is International Mental Health Day, with presentations about the work of Grófarin and the Mental Health Association from 14:00 to 17:30.
Saturday, October 11 features a Pub Quiz with Ási Guðna at Iðunn Mathöll from 20:00–22:00 – a perfect activity for everyone.
We look forward to seeing you!
Glerártorg – for great moments.
