Departure: 8:00 by private cars from FFA, Strandgata 23

The hike begins at the gravel pit along the main road between Ysta Vík and Fagrabær. The route ascends Ystuvíkurfjall and continues north to Kræðufell, then descends into Fagrabæjargil (steep with scree) before climbing Dýrðarnípa, crossing Dýrðarbunga, and finishing at Laufáshnjúkur. The final 300 meters involve some scrambling.

The descent from Laufáshnjúkur is where the cars will be waiting, but vehicles must first be shuttled there in advance. The views from the mountains are extensive and exceptionally beautiful, both to the south and north.
