Birdwatching in the Svarfdæli Nature Reserve. The tour will visit Böggvisstaðasandur, Flæðatjörn, Hrísatjörn, and Tjarnartjörn, where we can expect to see most of the common species of ducks and waders. Great Northern Divers (loons) and Red-necked Grebes are regular visitors at Hrísatjörn.
At Böggvisstaðasandur, breeding species include Arctic Tern, Herring Gull, Ringed Plover, and Oystercatcher. From Tjarnartjörn we will walk over to Hánefsstaðaskógur, where Goldcrest, Wren, Redwing, Song Thrush, and Common Blackbird breed. The bus will meet us at the forest, and finally we will visit Saurbæjartjörn to observe the birds there.
Bringing a good pair of binoculars is recommended.
