A group of people interested in the protection of war relics in Eyjafjörður has been researching Melgerðismela for some time. During the research of building foundations on Melar, many interesting things have come to light. The latest discovery at Melar are artifacts that belonged to a young pilot "called Kassos" who stayed at Melgerðismelum in the summer of 1942 and his fighter plane. In the summer of 2022, 80 years have passed since Kassos went down with the plane on Melgerðismelar.
Brynjar Karl Óttarsson will walk with those who are interested in the paths of John Kassos and all the other army team members at Melgerðismelum. Building bases will be examined and the place where John crashed his machine with the aforementioned consequences.
