Let's chat about AI
An open talk for the public where we discuss artificial intelligence
--What is this?
An open talk for the public where we discuss artificial intelligence without the technical jargon. This is not just a lecture about the technology, but also a demonstration of how it works, where it fails, and how it can be used wisely.
--About Magnús Smári Smárason
Magnús is the AI Project Manager at the University of Akureyri, where he leads the policy development and implementation of the responsible use of technology. He led work on the first comprehensive AI policy of an Icelandic university and has built systems such as
Gjöll.is for fire prevention and, in collaboration with Dr. Tom Barry, the Arctic Tracker for research on conservation measures for animal species in the Arctic.
Before Magnús turned to technology, he worked for 16 years as an ambulance driver and firefighter. This experience shapes his approach: focusing on what works in real life, not just on paper.
He hosts the podcast "Temjum täkkina" (Let's Tame Technology) and has given numerous courses and talks about technology. You can view his projects and more on his website
