Most people know the old and ugly stories about Grýla, who was a horrible cannibal, and the Santa Clauses who used to cause trouble wherever they went. Some of the family are still mostly forgotten, like Grýla's previous husbands and Santa Claus like Lungnaskvettir, Flórsleikir or Flotnös.
Jón Jónsson and Dagrún Ósk Jónsdóttir, ethnographers from Strandir, visit Akureyri Museum and recall almost forgotten stories about Icelandic Christmas foals.
Terrible stories and folklore about Grýla and her husky will be told. Some of it is hardly suitable for very young children or sensitive souls, but everyone who dares is most welcome! (told in icelandic)
We remind you of the Christmas exhibitions at the Museum Museum and Nonnahús;
