Hekla Björt Helgadóttir - performance in the Akureyri Art Museum

Performance in the Art Museum related to the exhibition Mitt rými

On Saturday, July 12th at 3 pm, a performance by Hekla Björt Helgadóttir will be offered at the Akureyri Art Museum in connection with her participation in the group exhibition of Nordic artists, Mitt rými, which is part of the Akureyri Art Summer.

In the performance, titled Höfuðið hús, Hekla Björt touches on the relationship between houses and souls and how people form connections with concrete, mountains and household items in a personal way. She leads visitors into conceptual houses and thus expands the space of the audience. The performance is directly related to Hekla's works, Eyðibýli, which are part of the aforementioned exhibition of Nordic artists, Mitt rými, which is currently on display at the Akureyri Art Museum.

Hekla Björt Helgadóttir works equally as a visual artist and a poet. Her works are sincere, witty and dreamy and often strongly influenced by performance art and theater. Hekla has held solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions and performance events. She is also one of the founders and operators of the art group Kaktus in Akureyri.
