We drive in the direction of Grenivík and then turn onto Leirdalsheiði. Bicycles are unloaded at Gljúfurá on Leirdalsheiði. From there, we cycle out along Hvalvatnsfjörður, enjoying its magnificent scenery.
Cycling time is approximately 3–4 hours including stops. It is advisable to bring wading shoes, as there may be a need to ford a stream.
Those who have their own bike racks should use them; others can have their bikes transported on a bike trailer.

Elevation gain: Considerable, especially on the return journey.
