Kashima Quilt Exhibition
Welcome to the Kashima Quilt Exhibition in Hrísey – a solo exhibition by Dröfn Teitsdóttir, showcasing quilt pieces she has created over the past several years.
The works are inspired by the birdlife and natural surroundings of the island, and made using a distinctive mosaic technique in which small fabric pieces are assembled into vivid, cohesive images. The exhibition presents quilting as a fine art form – not merely a craft – and highlights the precision, patience, and creativity the medium demands.
As part of the exhibition, visitors are invited to take part in a workshop and contribute to a collaborative quilt artwork. Each participant creates their own section, which will then be assembled into a single, unified piece – a living example of shared creativity.
Admission to both the exhibition and the workshop is free. All are welcome, whether experienced in quilting or entirely new to the art form.
