Loo Sim Ying graduated from the Malaysia Institute of Arts, majoring in Classical guitar. He holds the Associate Diploma (ATCL) and Licentiate Diploma (LTCL) in Music Performance of the Trinity College London both with Distinction.
He was awarded the first prize at the Guitar Solo Competition at the Malaysia Youth Music Festival in 2008, 2009 and the Gold Award in 2011. Ying was awarded the Award of Excellence by Trinity College of London for his achievement in ATCL Music Diploma. He has performed around the world.
Sim Ying has participated in masterclasses by many renowned artists of classical guitar.
At Akureyri Museum he will be playing works by Francisco Tarrega, Miguel Llobet, Vincent Lindsey-Clark, Roland Dyens, Dilermando Reis, Federico Moreno Torroba, Isaac Albeniz, Agustin Barrios, Stanley Myers, Jorge Cardosa, Antonio Lauro, Gary Ryan, Nikita Koshkin, Heitor Villa-Lobos and J.S Bach.
The concert is held at Akureyri Museum on June 18th Admission only 500 isk – free for museum ticket holders.
