On Friday, September 11th, Solveig Thoroddsen opens her exhibition Lendar in Mjólkurbúðin - Salur Myndlistarfélagins, Kaupvangsstræti 12, Akureyri.
The exhibition runs until September 20th
and is open at the following times:

Lendar (Hips) shows Solveig's recent works where she has created a colorful fairy-tale world, of landscapes and creatures. She says her work is influenced by Tove Janson and the Moomins as well as folk tales. She strives to create a dark, adventurous atmosphere in a world where threats and catastrophe loom over, but there is always room for beauty, love and playfulness. The artist's personal experience with places, history and events is also evident. The works are made in various media; A video work that is also shown in the same month at the ICJ International Film Award, for which it was selected, paintings, watercolors, sculpture and tapestries made from found materials.

Solveig Thoroddsen studied visual art at the Iceland University of the Arts, graduating with a Master's in 2015. She works through various mediums, whatever suits the occasion. Her practice explores the relationship between humans and nature, often with feminist references.
