Dagný Hermannsdóttir textile teacher tells us about latvian knitting traditions
In Latvia, unique traditions were created in mitten knitting. Women took great pride in designing and knitting unique mittens, and the patterns were varied and different traditions were created between regions. In Latvia, an incredibly diverse and many mitten patterns have been preserved, and even today mittens are highly valued.
 
Dagný Hermannsdóttir is a textile teacher by training and avid knitter. She has taken many knitting trips to Latvia, first to attend classes and then also as a tour guide. In addition, she teaches Latvian knitting methods in courses.

Dagný is going to tell us about Latvian mitten traditions and show pictures. She also comes with a number of mittens that we can look at and touch.
