Stabat Mater by Arvo Pärt and The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross by Þorvaldur Örn Davíðsson

At the second Stabat Mater concert presented by the Music Society, the works Stabat Mater by Arvo Pärt and a newly premiered piece by Þorvaldur Örn Davíðsson based on The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross will be performed.

Performers are Hlín Pétursdóttir Behrens (soprano), Erla Dóra Vogler (mezzo-soprano), Úlfar Trausti Þórðarson (tenor), Marika Alavere (violin), Kristín Halla Bergsdóttir (viola), and Ásdís Arnardóttir (cello). The conductor is Daníel Þorsteinsson.

The concert is supported by KEA, the Icelandic Music Fund, the Municipality of Akureyri, and the Composers’ Fund of RÚV and STEF.

Admission is free, and voluntary donations are welcome.
