Devi, the Supreme Mother Goddess, is the embodiment of active feminine energy called Shakti, the divine force. She appears in many forms, including Parvati, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganga, Durga, and Kali.
Today’s presentation is dedicated to two main forms of Devi. The first is the goddess Ganga, the sacred river personified as a deity, possessing purifying and liberating qualities. The second is the goddess Saraswati, the revered goddess of knowledge, music, art, language, and learning.
In a spirit of tradition and devotion, Éva and Ashima come together today to honor Devi through a Bharatanatyam performance. Tonight, the audience will experience intricate footwork, expressive hand gestures, and emotionally charged expressions, presented as both prayer and storytelling, where each dance sequence is a hymn to her many forms.
The event is supported by the VERÐANDI Arts Fund.
