“Did you know that the Suðurnes Health Center is always called the slaughterhouse? Always packed, always a line. Everyone coughing and sneezing, and I can feel myself getting sick just by breathing in the filth others are breathing out. The fat mama with the massive stroller asks the front desk how long they’ll have to wait. The receptionist says there’s only one doctor on duty again, so probably 2–3 hours at least.”
Iphigenia in Ásbrú (Iphigenia in Splott) by Gary Owen is an award-winning play that has captivated audiences around the world.
It tells the story of Ífí, the girl you swerve to avoid when she’s stumbling drunk before noon — but what you don’t know is that you owe her a lifelong debt. And now… it’s payback time.
This production was nominated for the 2025 Gríman Award for Actress of the Year in a leading role.
