Jóla Lóla Skyrgámsdóttir is a mischievous Christmas elf girl who dreams of visiting towns and leaving gifts in children’s shoes. Her friend, named Vettlingur, is not as eager for adventures – he prefers staying at the Christmas cottage wrapping presents. Together, they set off with Skyrgám and get into all kinds of adventures, encountering the gift-eating Christmas Folk and the mischievous Mykjuskán and Kolsteinn waiting in hiding. And of course, there’s her grandmother, called Grýla by everyone, but actually named Kríla – a cute rock-and-roll granny.
Jóla Lóla is a new and fun adventure for children of all ages, featuring songs performed by the theater group and musicians Jói Pé and Króli. The play is also written by the theater group and director Berg Þór Ingólfsson, director of Leikfélag Akureyrar, who has previously directed productions such as Blái Hnötturinn, Mary Poppins, and Matthildur at Borgarleikhúsið, and this winter Litla Hryllingsbúðin at Leikfélag Akureyrar. The actors are Urður Bergsdóttir, Kristinn Óli Haraldsson, and Hjalti Rúnar Jónsson, all well-known to Leikfélag audiences.
The performance lasts about one hour and will be held in the halls of Samkomuhúsið in Akureyri from December 7–29.
