Raddir kvenna og kvára is a concert celebrating women’s contributions to music and songwriting through the ages. Icelandic female musicians come together to perform a diverse repertoire of music composed by women — ranging from classical and jazz to pop, folk, and contemporary music. The program features both well-known and lesser-known works, interwoven with insights about the women behind the music. The aim of the project is to highlight women’s contributions to music history, increase the visibility of contemporary female composers, and promote a more diverse and equitable music scene.
