Rokkland on Rás 2 turns 30 this fall, and to celebrate, a special anniversary concert will be held at Hof in Akureyri, where Rokkland will be brought to the stage in collaboration with SinfoniaNord.

At this event, SinfoniaNord, along with the Todmobile band and some of Iceland’s finest vocalists, will perform key milestones from the history of pop and rock — songs that matter and that particularly shine when backed by a full orchestra — mixed with other beloved musical gems.

Ólafur Páll, President of Rokkland, selected the songs in collaboration with Þorvaldur Bjarni. Artists and bands featured in the setlist include The Beatles, Björk, David Bowie, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, E.L.O, U2, Iron Maiden, Sigur Rós, Queen, and more.

Every song has a story — and Ólafur Páll will be on stage sharing short intros and anecdotes that connect the dots between the music and its history.

The very first Rokkland episode aired on October 7, 1995, making it the longest-running program on Rás 2 and one of the oldest continuous shows in the history of Icelandic radio. Only classics like Kvöldgestir Jónasar Jónassonar or the jazz show of Jón Múli can rival Rokkland in longevity.

Symphonic rock, epic pop, timeless folk, and the secrets behind the scenes — a night you really don’t want to miss.
