Creativity in the spotlight!
A project that supports young music creators with professional guidance — from idea to stage.
Upptakturinn is a collaborative project between Menningarhúsið Hof and Harpa.
The focus of Upptakturinn is to encourage children and young people to compose music and to support them in developing their ideas into finished works.
Participants submit a song — or even just an idea for a song — to upptakturinn@mak.is. The idea does not need to be fully developed.
Those selected will work on arranging their ideas under the guidance of experienced musicians in fun and engaging workshops.
At the end of the process, new musical works are created and performed in concert by professional musicians, and preserved through recordings on ruv.is.
The composers of the works sit in the audience and enjoy watching professional musicians perform their compositions.
