Are you an immigrant living in Iceland?
Local governmental elections are taking place on May 16th 2026 and if you’ve lived in Iceland for three years in a row, you have the right to vote.
On February 28th and March 1st there will be free of charge workshops on voting rights and related issues for immigrant residents living in Akureyri, Eyjafjarðarsveit, Grýtubakkahreppi (Grenivík), Hörgársveit og Svalbarðsstrandarhreppi.
There you will get an opportunity to meet other residents, discuss matters with them and learn about your democratic rights, the role of the local government, how you can influence the affairs in your local municipality and community, when and how the local elections take place and more.
The project is supported by the Ministry of Social Affairs and our municipalities.
It’s completely free to get more information and take part! Here you can register: Registration.
Looking forward to seeing you!
